Two labourers were killed on the spot and four others injured, two of them seriously, after the slab of a wall being constructed around a well collapsed.

AKOLA: Two labourers were killed on the spot and four others injured, two of them seriously, after the slab of a wall being constructed around a well collapsed on them at Ambika Solvent Factory at Wani Rambhapur village, about 30km from here, on Wednesday morning. Manohar Gawai (30) and Bandu Gopkar (45) died on the spot as they fell in the well. Raju Shah and Rasul Shah were seriously hurt and have been hospitalized.
Sureshchandra Garg, a resident of Indore, is the owner of the factory.

About 140 workers work in three shifts at the factory.
After the incident, an angry crowd gathered at the site and damaged 29 computers, telephones, and other office equipment and furniture worth lakhs. Police resorted to mild cane charge to control the situation. Meanwhile, seven motor pumps were pressed into service to draw out the water from the well. However, until late evening, the two bodies had not been fished out. Cranes were also pressed into service to aid the operation.
